What is a religious vocation?

A religious life vocation is a divine call to live out the evangelical counsels: poverty, chastity, and obedience, within a community, serving a specific mission or charism.

The Formation Process

Candidates are invited to begin the stages of formation in order to continue discerning their vocation and learning about the Congregation. Each stage has its own specific goals and content, aimed at helping the sisters in formation achieve human, spiritual, intellectual, and religious maturity, while also preparing them to receive and carry out apostolic mission in accordance with the charism of the Congregation.

Candidacy/Pre-Postulancy

"You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last." (Jn 15:16)

  • At least 1 year.
  • Officicially begins the Rosarian vocation discernment process.
  • Introduction to prayer and community living.
  • Basic formation in personal maturity and Christian living.

Postulancy

"So, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him, rooted in him and built upon him and established in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." (Cl 2, 6-7)

  • 6 months to 1 year.
  • Continue formation in personal maturity and Christian living with emphasis on increase self-knowledge, growth in charity, and deepening one's personal relationship with God.
  • Continue discerning the Rosarian vocation.
Novitiate

"I led them with cords of human kindness, with bands of love." (Hosea 11:4)

  • 2 years.
  • A deeper discernment of the Rosarian vocation through intense prayer, study, and reflection on the theological, philosophical, spiritual, and ascetical dimensions of consecrated life in general, and of the Rosarian vocation in particular.
  • Practice living the Evangelical Counsels.
  • Introduction to the various ministries of the Congregation.

Temporary Vows

"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word." (Lk 1:38)

  • From 6-9 years.
  • Continue formation in personal growth and maturity in living the Rosarian charism and spirituality in practical events of daily life.
  • Be ready to enter into a covenant of love with interior freedom with lifelong fidelity to the Lord.

Perpetual Profession of Vows

"I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy." (Hosea 2:19–20)

  • The sister promises for life to live in chastity, poverty and obedience, according to the Constitution of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Chi Hoa.
  • She lives the Mystery of Salvation and proclaims the grace of Redemption to all.
